A repeat client from Corpus Christi came back to Bay Area Audio Visions for more Majek Extreme marine audio upgrades. While he liked our previous work, he wanted his marine audio system to keep up with his buddies at the ski canal. Our team gave him ideas for improvements that he liked, so we set a time to begin the work.
Three Zone Control Thanks To JL Audio MediaMaster
The first step was to remove the existing stereo and install a JL Audio MediaMaster MM100s source unit. This is a full-featured unit that has Bluetooth, USB Ports, Sirius XM Capability and multi-zone control, among other features. In this boat, we divided it up into three zones: bow, console and rear.
Speaker Upgrades
Now it was time to add more speakers. Since the client wanted to hear his music clearly at 50 mph, we added multiple sets of JL Audio M Series marine speakers. The initial install called for a set of M880-CCX 8.8” coaxials in the front and rear. We added a second set of M880s up front to bolster the sound in the bow. We installed a set of M770-CCX 7.7” speakers in the console area, as well as two pairs of JL Audio Vex pods. One pair of pods faces forward and a second set faces back. This combination floods the boat and the area around it with crisp, clear sound at any speed.
Big Bass Upgrade
Since any good audio system benefits from great bass, a custom subwoofer enclosure was in order. Our technicians built a sealed enclosure out of Baltic birch plywood, sprayed it with bedliner material and then set it on acrylic feet. It was designed to hold a pair of JL Audio 12W6v3 12” subwoofers before we mounted it securely inside the console.
Powered By JL Audio
For power, we chose a trio of amplifiers from JL Audio, using a pair of MHD900/5s and one MHD600/4. This combination gave us more than 2,400 watts of clean power, so the client can experience concert-level volume any time he desires.
Marine-Spec Wiring And Installation
All of our wiring, hardware and connections were marine-grade to ensure long-lasting durability. We even go so far as to use adhesive-lined heat-shrink and dielectric grease to extend durability on all connections.
Client Was Blown Away By His Majek Extreme Marine Audio Upgrades
When the client came to pick up his boat, he was blown away by the improvements in his audio system. As we cranked it up for the first time, he was smiling from ear to ear.
